What have I done so far?

It is about time to lean back and see what I have done. Or again, maybe not. Done is done, and it may be in due time to set my course for the next goal. Somebody told me that it is almost impossible to end up right if you don't know where you want to end up.

I have been a mechanics in a couple of the coal mines at Svalbard, Spitzbergen for 5 years, I have been a janitor at a school in Tromsø for a year, car wrecker and mechanics in Halden for some years. I have been a car mechanics at Jan Mayen and at Evenes Airfield and run a restaurant in Oslo, Petit Bistro. And I have been a salesman.

I have been working as a mechanics at 'Norsk Scania' close to where I live for half a year, performing maintenance on Scania trucks and I loved it. But when my girlfriend wanted to leave for Bergen, I had no other options than to follow her. So in February we quit our jobs, packed our goods and left. And here we are, I work as a Car Tester At NAF, the Norwegian Automobile Union here in Bergen. But as usually life has its ways and suddenly we were bound for Jan Mayen again... we left on April 4., to stay there for half a year and luckily I got leave from my job. We stayed there for half a year, returning in the beginning of October. During those 6 months, I have taken at least 3500 pictures. If I find the time, I will put them on the net. Meanwhile, have a look at the Norwegian pages for more pictures.

Born in 1954, I am beginning to grow up, and must start thinking of the future. I am divorced but have two sons from my marriage. They have been living in Harstad with their mother, and they are my big pride. By now Anders and Eirik has moved to Trondheim to work and study.

I am living with Inga, and we have been living together for several years now. We have been spending summer weekends exploring the area around Oslo and Halden in our canoe. But we are now eager to start searching for canoeing areas in the district surrounding Bergen. In the winter we are not so active but we try to do things together once in a while.

We paint, Inga on wooden tools for the kitchen, small baskets for decorations and other stuff that might come to our house. I do paintings using water colors, acrylics, oils and pastels.

I also spend some hours once in a while by the computer editing my homepages and trying to get familiar with Red Hat Linux. To make better pictures for these pages I would like to get a new scanner, I have a couple of thousand slides and really would like to be able to present some of them here. On the other hand, I have no problems in finding new interests to dive into. Like now, I am very occupied in genealogy and this has led to an interest in history. So I am enjoying the Norwegian history through the years from 950 to 1500 and will continue looking for interesting material covering that period.

In the beginning of April 2002, we returned to Jan Mayen to stay here for half a year and we went back to Norway in the beginning of October.
