These pages are mainly related to the life at Jan Mayen.
With the exception of a few pictures that I have borrowed from friends, all pictures exhibited here are my own property and any use of those must be cleared out with me before use.
I had a plan of upgrading these pages continually, but must admit that this has come to a halt. Having left Jan Mayen, I got lots of other interests. I have lots of plans and my years at Svalbard / Spitsbergen should also be thoroughly covered. At least as far as my mind allows it.
In October 2002 we returned from Jan Mayen
after having spent another 6 months there. I have taken at least 3500 pictures
and have so much to organize. Time will show if I manage to share them with you. At
last I have the space that I need...
This
picture came to me from Derek Holmes. He was a crewmember of the ship H. M .S.
Vengeance. A Light Fleet aircraft carrier. She was on Arctic Trials with some
other ships early in 1949.Derek says that he will remember it as some of the
roughest weather in all his naval time, but the ice and the Aurora Borealis made
it a trip never to be forgotten. The picture is from his personal collection and
I am very happy to be able to share it with you. If you want to see more
pictures, have a look at my Norwegian Pages. I have not been able to find time
to translate everything. I suggest that you visit among others 'Siste nytt'.
